I'm looking for the Nokia tune: The Buffoon. Also, the
Turtles song: Happy Together (The chorus).

Radoslaw Nowak (RNS::) wrote: July 2nd, 2002
I've added "Turtles: Happy Together" to HoHo's Nokia Ringtones page available from HoHo's home page.
I couldn't have found "The Buffoon" though. Here's the only thing I've found - The Buffoon MIDI file.

For the future:
Please find the tunes yourself - the two tunes for you I have found with Google.

You're the greatest! Thanks alot. The Buffoon song is
great. It's better than what's on the Nokia phone. Does
HoHo allow for translating MIDI to ringtone? (I'm very
new to your program, just found it yesterday)

Thanks!

Radoslaw Nowak (RNS::) wrote: July 3rd, 2002
Hoho does allow to convert a MIDI to a ringtone. You have to use "Import" command of HoHo's MIDI Manager (so you'll need MIDI Manager and MIDI Import plug-ins).

The problem is that the MIDI files you want to import must already be present in your Palm. I have no tool (and I don't know any) that would install a MIDI file in your Palm.

There is, however, a tool that does the opposite thing - Mider for HoHo extracts MIDI files from Palm databases and saves them as *.mid files on your PC.

You can use Simply Install (formerly Pilot Install) to install a MIDI file from your PC into your System_MIDI_Sounds.pdb. It strips it down to SMF0 channel 1, and inserts it into the alarm database. You can then use HoHo to move it to your ringtones, tweak it to how you want it, or convert it to your Nokia format to program into your phone.

there's also a program called PalmMIDI Desktop that does something similar, but it's Java based and I haven't tried it. Simply Install is useful for so many things, there's no reason not to get it.

Thanks a bunch for your quick response!I was really happy to see the code. But........

I've tried to compose The Buffoon but it doesn't work as the original. Maybe I'm doing something wrong or the code isn't right. Are you sure this is the Buffoon ringtone from the nokia 3310?

Hoping to hear from you soon,
Sanne

By the way: I've looked for the Bufffoon with Google, and I've spent 3 hours searching but I couldn't find it.

Radoslaw Nowak (RNS::) wrote: April 2nd, 2003
I don't know if it is the Buffoon from Nokia 3310. I just took the first one found by Google with this query:
http://www.google.com/search?q=nokia+ringtone+%22the+buffoon%22

Radoslaw Nowak (RNS::) wrote: April 18th, 2003
You can use HoHo to convert the Nokia format ringtone to the Nokia Composer format ringtone.

Anyway, I have sent you the HoHo-converted "The Buffoon" ringtone.

does anybody know where or who this song is from?
artist? year?

Aaron J. Outhier wrote: June 18th, 2003
Jim,
I'm not 100% sure on this, but I think it's the default RingTone installed on many Nokia(r) brand Cell Phones. AFAIK: it is not an actual song that you would hear on the radio, for example. It's more like a "Jingle". Again, I'm rather sketchy on the details. Earlier comments on this topic would seem to support this conclusion. If so, the Artist would be "Nokia Corporation" or something similar, and I'm guessing that it would probably have been from sometime within the last 5 years. Possibly earlier. (I would suppose that by saying that a past event occured either more or less than 5 years ago would cover all of the proverbial bases)
TTFN!

You can take it from the HoHo's Nokia Ringtones page available from HoHo's home page.

Later you may use HoHo to convert it to any other format.

Compose it in HoHo, export to a MIDI file, and send the MIDI file to your Nokia via Bluetooth.
